Scholarship Vignette: Logan Tamodon, 2024

I recently spoke with Logan Kai Tamadon, the winner of the Michael Willard Scholarship that I donated last year, and learned more about what he has been doing and what his plans for the future are.

Logan has played Varsity Tennis with Hoggard High School and continued his music studies. He is graduating from Isaac Bear Early College High School in 2025.

He said that he was enjoying what he calls a “happy year” here before moving on to college and the future.

Logan will be attending Duke University and will be studying Biochemistry and Piano.  He has been fortunate enough to have secured Dr. David Heid as a teacher and mentor there.  Dr. Heid has worked at Julliard and has coached Grammy/Tony winners.  What a wonderful opportunity.

During his time at Duke, Logan will be working at extending his repertoire and, though he will be focused on his biochemistry major, he  said he “will never give up piano, it’s an integral part of my life.”  This summer he will be working at a job that involves either biochemistry or music ….. he can’t lose either way!

Finally, when I asked Logan how he had used his scholarship, he said he bought an IPad that allows him to have his music more available and easy to use.  I think that’s a great use of the money and am so glad to have provided something to enhance the skill and talent of this fine young man.
